Colors. They’re everywhere. On our desk. In our car. At work. On the street. Color is the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected or emitted by the object. How do colors impact brands? How do brands use color as a part of their identity?

Many believe colors have emotional qualities and can actually change how someone feels. But don’t worry, we won’t get into that.

The primary use of colors in branding is as an identifier. We’re going to demonstrate that in this video.

Do you like taking quizzes? Don’t worry, this is a fun quiz.

I’m going to display a set of colors. Your job is to guess the brand.

You will have 10 seconds to guess, before we reveal the answer.

Are you ready?

Let’s see how you do!

Now, that wasn’t so bad was it?

Well, how’d ya do?

I bet you got some of them right? If not, that’s ok.

Colors are just one example of how brands can be identified.

It is key for every brand to have its own identity. This helps distinguish one brand from another, and makes it easy for consumers to remember a brand. Brand memorability is crucial and depends on a consistent use of the brand identity.

If a brand is not consistent it can be confusing and worse, devastating to a business. Whether its colors, typography, or a logo, consistency should be maintained.

This does not mean change cannot happen, because sometimes change must happen. Just be sure the change is right for the brand, and limit how often you make those changes.

I hope you enjoyed this little quiz and that it helped you understand the significance of colors and how colors impact brands.

Until next time, Happy Branding.
